Venezuelan singer, Wilmer Escalona, has resided in Miami Florida for over 7 years. Wilmer’s musical influence is Tropical Urban such as Merengue, Bachata, and Salsa. Artistically known as NAYI, Wilmer was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela on June 21, 1988, and brought happiness and blessings to many. At the age of 15, he was given his first guitar, which he subsequently learned to play by ear. NAYI participated in a television program called “Minuto de Fama” where he represented his beloved country of Venezuela with pride and honor. “I didn’t win, but it was an incredible experience and I met so many talented artists,” says NAYI. He has performed at many national and international venues being ranked up there with the best. NAYI also participated in a globally known show “La Academia” in Mexico City placing 60th out of 500,000 international participants.
In 2011, NAYI traveled back to his native country of Venezuela, where he launched his first urban single, “Vuelo en el Viento,” with Grupo Legacy which reached the top of the national charts. “I am grateful to my country for opening its door so that I can show the world the enormous amount of talent that exists within the Venezuelans that live abroad,” says NAYI. Music is his way of expressing what he feels in different forms, rhythms, and languages. For NAYI what is most important is to have the ability to transmit and make his fans feel every word he sings.
In 2013, Wilmer received two pre-nominations in the Latin Grammys ’14 as “Song of the Year” and “Best Production” with his single “Renuncio Hoy.”
